A Return to the Life We Always Wanted

Anorak Ranch began long before we ever owned land in Green Bluff.

Ryan and Alicia are originally from Long Beach, California. Early in our relationship, we had the opportunity to live rurally for a season; caring for livestock, tending animals, and experiencing the steady rhythm of life connected to land. It changed us. We knew then that one day we would return to it.

City life was fast and full, but it wasn’t where we wanted to build our future. We longed for open space, sustainability, land ownership, and a stronger sense of community.

The day after Christmas 2025, we packed up everything and moved to Washington to begin that next chapter.

Planting Roots in Green Bluff

We chose Green Bluff for its farming heritage, open skies, and the kind of community where neighbors still matter. With two kids attending Mead School District, this move wasn’t just about business; it was about building stability, health, and a slower, more intentional life for our family.

Anorak Ranch is our commitment to staying.

We are building something meant to last — for our children, for our community, and for ourselves.

Why “Anorak”?

The name carries its own story.

We live on Halliday Road, and longtime readers of Ready Player One will recognize the reference. In the novel, James Halliday creates the OASIS, an immersive world built on imagination and legacy. Within that world, his avatar is named Anorak.

The idea of building something meaningful and lasting, something that reflects who you are, resonated deeply with us. Naming our ranch Anorak felt like a quiet nod to that spirit of dream-building and long-term vision.

What We’re Growing

Right now, Anorak Ranch focuses on pasture-raised eggs from our growing flock of hens. We are committed to sustainable practices, responsible animal care, and producing food we are proud to feed our own children.

As the seasons change, so will our offerings. Spring will bring berries, and future seasons will bring additional farm goods as we expand thoughtfully and responsibly.

Our goal is to build a resilient, small-scale agricultural operation that supports our family while contributing to the local food system.

This Is Just the Beginning

Anorak Ranch isn’t a hobby. It’s a return; to land, to health, to sustainability, and to community.

We’re grateful to be here. And we’re just getting started.
